The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon: What we know

Teased at the 2017 North American Auto Show, the 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon SRT will shape up to be one fast and powerful coupe. With 707-orsepower and 315-width Nitto NT05R drag radial tires, this car sounds like it's ready to hit the race track.

Last week Dodge revealed that SRT Demon will have a stronger driveshaft capable of handling 15 percent more toque; an upgraded rear-end gearset and differential housing; and stronger half-shafts with lower-friction bearings.

In addition, the Demon will have a special Launch Asist mode to combat driveline-grenading wheel hop. The system can momentarily cut engine output to quell wheel hop and "maximize traction almost instantly," without any input from the driver, reducing driveline overload by 15-20 percent, Dodge says.

Lastly, it's safe to assume that the Demon will a 10-second car because Dodge has included a four-point harness bar for track use. With the (assumedly optional) rear- and passenger-seat delete package, the four-point harness hardware mount points are made available, allowing customers to install the harness and bar without any cutting or drilling.

We can't wait to see what is sure to be an outrageous and amazing car!
